Eduard Iancu

CEO

Eduard Iancu

Graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest - Transport and Construction Management, Eduard Iancu is General Manager of DB Cargo Romania since December 2008, and from 2008 to 2016 he also held the position of Managing Director of DB Cargo Bulgaria.
Currently, his main responsibilities include, besides that of Chairman of the Board of Directors of DB Cargo Romania, the general management of the company's operations and the implementation of strategic policies in accordance with the Group's objectives.
Within DB Cargo Romania, Eduard Iancu managed to:

  • Increase the market share from 0.04% to 12-13% at present, in other words to transform a start-up company into top 3 players on the Romanian rail freight market
  • Develop an integrated strategy capable of sustaining profitable growth
  • Build and motivate a professional and efficient team, proven by market share, revenue level, cost reduction and operational efficiency
  • Increase by 10 times the number of units in the company's rolling stock, currently composed of 60 locomotives and 3,000 wagons

Eduard Iancu has an experience of over 25 years in logistics, previously working for top companies in the field, such as Kuehne + Nagel and DHL.

Valentin Nicolae

CFO

Valentin Nicolae

Valentin Nicolae holds a bachelor’s degree from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.

He also graduated a Master in Business Administration at Edinburgh Business School, being as well a fellow member of ACCA since 2002.

Valentin has 25 years of experience in financial and auditing, working for companies like British American Tobacco and SabMiller, having a 360 degree financial responsibility with business impact and managing significant teams, dispersed geographically.

He has joined DB Cargo Romania Board in 2018.

Bogdan Barbu

Head of Operations

Bogdan Barbu

Bogdan Barbu is a graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and has joined the management team of DB Cargo Romania in May 2009.

Bogdan has over 18 years of experience in Sales and Transportation, previously working for DHL and Assa Abloy.

At DB Cargo Romania, Bogdan was Head of Sales till beginning of 2024 when he took over the role of Head of Operations and he is responsible for defining the local operations strategy in line with the group's strategy, team coordination and local activities. At the same time, he brings his contribution to international projects designed to support the development of a European railway network.

Andreea Ciulacu

Head of HR

Andreea Ciulacu

Andreea Ciulacu joined the management team of DB Cargo Romania in October 2011.

She has over 15 years of experience in the field of human resources, previously working in the construction industry and FMCG.

At DB Cargo Romania, she is responsible for defining the local human resources strategy in line with the group's strategy, coordinating local activities and contributing to international projects related to attracting, training and developing the workforce to support the company's growth.

She is a graduate of ASE - Company Management and she has specialized in International Human Resource Management at the Singapore Institute of Management and CIPD London.

Dan Toma

Head of Sales and Marketing

Dan Toma

Dan Toma is a graduate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and began his career with DB Cargo Romania in the Sales Department in October 2012.

He was the first representative from Romania to participate in the DB EuroTRAIL Program, where he had the opportunity to gain expertise across various Deutsche Bahn subsidiaries in Germany and the United Kingdom. During 2016-2017, he held the position of Automotive Account Manager at DB Cargo UK.

After a 12-year career at DB Cargo, during which he held roles as Sales Representative, Key Account Manager, and Business Development Manager, Dan Toma was appointed Head of Sales and Marketing in 2024. In this role, he is responsible for defining the local sales strategy in alignment with group objectives, leading the team and overseeing local operations, while also contributing to the development of a European rail network.

Mircea Mihailov

Head of Asset Management

Mircea Mihailov

Mircea Mihailov is working for DB Cargo Romania since 2010. In 2001, he graduated the Politehnica University of Bucharest and since then, he worked in the railway industry for CFR Marfa and Rompetrol Logistics.

Starting with March 2013, Mircea is the Head of Asset Management in DB Cargo Romania and coordinates the maintenance services of wagons and locomotives.

Bogdan Scarlat

Safety & Quality Manager

Bogdan Scarlat

Bogdan Scarlat joined DB Cargo Romania in 2019 as Deputy Director of Safety and Quality. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 2001. He then worked in the state railway sector at CFR Marfă. After 3 years, he moved to the private sector, to Rompetrol Logistics and in 2015 to Tehnotrans Feroviar. Within DB Cargo Romania, he took over the position of Director of the Safety and Quality on the 3rd January 2021 and, together with his team, he aims to maintain a high level of safety and quality within the company.


Violeta Ochea

Head of Service Design & Resource Management / Operational Controlling

Violeta Ochea

Violeta Ochea started her career at Deutsche Bahn Cargo Romania in October 2013, right after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest.

In her second year at the company she joined the euroTRAIL European program, and also had the opportunity to experience working in DB Cargo Headquarters and in the French subsidiary – ECR.

With a broader view on different business models and Controlling, she has joined the management team in April 2019 being responsible for business planning, budgeting & forecast, target setting, financial & operational analysis, transfer pricing.
